Answer The Question and Increase Sales

Answer The Question and Increase Sales

When was the last time you asked your customers why they chose you? I’m not talking about why they chose your product over another, I mean why are they doing business with you. Maybe you never have.

Hopefully we know why people pick our product or service. It may be price, quality, design, reliability and while that may be the case, your clients also chose you. People buy things but they also buy a relationship. Whether you realize it or not when someone is buying your product they are also buying what you communicate. The more you can understand how your clients perceive you, the better you will be at meeting their needs.  Here are some of the questions you should ask.

1) Why do you business with me?
2) What one thing do I do really well?
3) What one thing can I do to improve?
4) Would you recommend to a friend that they do business with me?

You communicate with your customers whether you’re proactive about it or not. Hopefully you are. If not you need to be. With today’s tools such as blogs and social media there should be no excuse not to have that dialogue with your customer’s. Find out why they chose you and then leverage that. It will make you a better salesmen and which ultimately improves your sales.

Everyone has a little ego….you just need to grasp it.
It only takes a second to find it by simply asking a customer a few questions about them. Why they chose you, your company or your product, etc. And if you do it in the right ways not only do you get important demographic information that helps your company grow, not to mention a way for you to track your companies advertising money and where it is working and not working, (remember, advertisers talk up a big game to get you to advertise. Bottom line, they want your money. It is up to you to track it. ) which can save you from buying advertising that is not working for you at all, you also make the customer feel as if they are an important fixture to your business..like the old cheers song “You wanna go where everyone knows your name”. I think that deep down most people like to frequent places where they are treated like they are very important or kind of a regular (by using there name, asking about their kids, remembering insignificant little things to show that you are sincerely interested in them, etc.. And of course providing them with a good and reliable product. I agree that this day in age there are to many tools to help you build and maintain a good and healthy customer base and customer relationship. Ive learned that buy doing a few of these things you can build good customer relationships. I’m new to this social media and blogging time like most of us are, but like with any business, product lines change or business procedures change and you have to learn them to continue to be one step ahead of the next guy..social media and blogging are like that new product line that is about to come out in your particular nitch or field and you have better be able to use it to your advantage to make that sale or up-talk your product.
And Remember, if you aren’t doing it your competitor probably is…
