All but one of the top 25 magazines had a decline in newsstand sales for the first half of 2009. Which one do you think it was? Real Simple, literally. Real Simple Magazine was the only magazine in the top 25 to see an increase in newsstand sales. Its’ tag line is “life made easier”.
Now this website isn’t about the publishing industry and to be honest I’ve never read the magazine (although my wife does). But, I cant help but see this report and think of it as an idea for entrepreneurs. When only one magazine of the top 25 has an increase in newsstand sales you have to ask, “Why that one?” . I don’t think its coincidence that a magazine about making life easier is selling better now than it was in 2008. That’s exactly what people are looking for in 2009 and beyond, ways they can make their life easier.
That’s where you come in. Do you have an idea that will make peoples life easier, simplify things, create less hassle, take less time? Those are all great benefits to offer your customers. Something that seems so obvious yet sometimes is undervalued or even overlooked. Any idea you have should incorporate making life easier for your customers in some way or another.
